Summary  

The Mission Generation System Operator (MGSO) will be an experienced aviation systems or simulation technician preferably with prior mission planning experience. He/she will be dedicated to mission generation and the implementation of Joint Mission Planning System (JMPS) mission data into the B-2 simulation scenarios. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • The MGSO’s primary duties will be to implement training missions for the 509th Bomb Wing’s Mission Training Center and Distributed Mission Operations (DMO).  

  • Collateral duties will include supporting existing MSGO capabilities in generating and implementing Initial Qualification Training (IQT), Wing, and Weapons School mission requests. 

  • While not certified aircrew, the MGSO will be responsible to work closely within the Mission Training Center (MTC) to implement mission scenarios and goals as defined by qualified mission planning personnel, and as provided via JMPS or other mission planning tools. 

  • The MGSO will also support mission planning personnel in troubleshooting scenarios to ensure they achieve the desired goal of the training mission. 

  • Prospective employee must have demonstrated leadership skills in a highly technical environment dealing directly with customer personnel. 

  • Works with other engineers as a team to ensure corrections are completed in a timely fashion; but may be required to work independently with minimal direction to provide solutions 

 

Qualifications and Education Requirements  

  • Bachelors Degree or a two-year electronic technician resident course at an accredited technical institute and/or military technical training and equivalent electronics maintenance experience or Mission Planning System experience on equipment of similar complexity.  

  • Prefer 4 years’ experience and have demonstrated competence by satisfactory progressive performance in electronic maintenance or Mission Generation System Operation (MGSO) on simulation systems of comparable complexity to those supported on this program. 

  • This position requires experience in integrated multi-computer systems, video generation and display systems, complex digital interfaces, high density cable/plug repair, software maintenance, and comprehensive troubleshooting and repair of general training device peripheral systems 

  • Excellent communication skills including oral, written, interpersonal, and listening 

  • Proven success in a fast-paced development environment and possess a willingness to take ownership, accept accountability, and thrive under pressure 

  • Strong problem solving, troubleshooting and analytical skills 

  • Ability to obtain a Top-Secret DoD security clearance 

  • Flexibility to support occasional overtime, weekend work, shift work and travel (CONUS) 

  • General computer skills including use of Microsoft Office products 

  • Due to U.S. Government contract requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for this role.  
     

Preferred Skills  

  • MS Windows, Linux, Unix 

  • Military Experience 

  • Experience with Flight Simulation 

  • 1-2 years’ experience with Mission Planning 

  • Active DoD Secret Clearance within a five-year investigation period 

  • CompTIA Security+, A+, or Network+ certificates are a plus

Shall not divulge information outside company without management approval.  All government and proprietary information will be accessed and stored electronically on company provided resources.   

  •  Incumbent must be eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearance.

Work Environment  

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

  • Ability to climb stairs.
