Job Title: Facilities Maintenance Engineer
Job DescriptionThe Facilities Maintenance Engineer supports day-to-day facilities operations across manufacturing, warehouse, and office areas, ensuring that all building systems operate safely, reliably, and efficiently. This role performs hands-on maintenance and repairs on critical systems such as compressed air, compressors, generators, lighting, HVAC, and utilities to maintain production readiness. The position also coordinates vendors and contractors, manages work orders and preventive maintenance schedules, and assists with facility upgrades and equipment moves. In addition, the Facilities Maintenance Engineer provides support for safety and environmental health programs, including inspections, emergency equipment checks, and incident response in collaboration with the EHS team.
Responsibilities
- Support daily facilities operations across manufacturing, warehouse, and office areas to ensure safe and reliable building performance.
- Inspect, operate, and troubleshoot building systems including compressed air systems, air compressors, generators, lighting, HVAC, and utilities.
- Perform general facility maintenance, repairs, and routine equipment checks to ensure production readiness and minimize downtime.
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical and basic electrical issues related to facility equipment and infrastructure.
- Manage and prioritize work orders, ensuring timely completion and accurate documentation of maintenance activities.
- Develop, follow, and update preventive maintenance schedules for facility systems and equipment.
- Coordinate and oversee vendors and contractors performing repairs, maintenance, and facility improvements, ensuring quality and safety standards.
- Support facility upgrades, space reconfigurations, and equipment moves, including planning, coordination, and execution support.
- Conduct facility safety inspections and walkthroughs to identify hazards and improvement opportunities.
- Assist with hazard identification, corrective actions, and basic safety compliance tasks in partnership with the EHS team.
- Perform routine checks of emergency equipment such as eyewash stations, fire extinguishers, emergency exits, and AEDs.
- Support incident response and follow-up activities related to facilities or building systems, including documentation of findings and actions.
- Assist with emergency preparedness activities and drills to ensure readiness for potential facility-related incidents.
- Help maintain documentation for audits, inspections, and regulatory readiness related to facilities and safety programs.
- Collaborate closely with the EHS team to maintain a safe, compliant work environment throughout the site.
- Be available as a first responder during assigned night shifts for facility-related issues and emergencies.
- Use basic computer systems to enter, track, and update work orders, maintenance logs, and facility documentation.
- Maintain an organized work approach, ensuring tools, parts, and records are properly managed.
- Work independently in a fast-paced environment while communicating effectively with operations, EHS, and other stakeholders.
Essential Skills- Minimum of 5+ years of facilities maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment, including support of compressed air systems, compressors, generators, and production equipment.
- Strong knowledge of building systems and general facility maintenance practices.
- Hands-on experience with plumbing, mechanical systems, and facilities maintenance in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
- Ability to work on equipment such as air compressors and electrical panels safely and effectively.
- Basic understanding of HVAC systems and the ability to perform routine HVAC checks and maintenance tasks.
- Demonstrated troubleshooting skills for facility equipment, utilities, and building systems.
- Proficiency with basic computer systems and software to manage documentation, work orders, and maintenance logs.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective problem-solving abilities and sound judgment when addressing facility issues.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high standards of safety and quality.
- Willingness to learn environmental health and safety (EHS) fundamentals and actively support safety programs.
Additional Skills & Qualifications- Experience working as a maintenance technician or facilities technician in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Background in mechanical maintenance and repair of facility-related equipment.
- Familiarity with troubleshooting and maintaining HVAC systems in a production or warehouse setting.
- Experience coordinating and overseeing external vendors and contractors for facility projects.
- Comfort working with basic electrical components related to facility systems under appropriate safety guidelines.
- Ability to contribute to safety inspections, audits, and incident investigations as part of a cross-functional team.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with operations, EHS, and other internal partners.

Work Environment
This role is based on-site in a manufacturing facility that includes production areas, warehouse spaces, and office environments. You will work around industrial equipment, compressed air systems, generators, HVAC units, and utilities, using standard maintenance tools, basic electrical tools, and computer systems for work order management and documentation. The initial training period lasts approximately four weeks on a 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM schedule, aligned with senior facilities and EHS technicians to provide hands-on guidance. After training, the regular schedule runs from 3:30 PM to 12:00 AM, Monday through Friday, supporting evening operations. The environment is fast-paced and production-focused, with a strong emphasis on safety, preventive maintenance, and responsiveness to facility issues.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr.
