This individual will serve as the contract main point of contact to the Government stakeholders and an advisor on matters related to delivering engineering and programmatic capabilities to organizations and operational users. The responsibilities also include leading or supporting key initiatives to assist the client and/or Compass Point to identify opportunities and maximize value gained from new investigative technologies.
Responsibilities
- This individual researches, analyzes, develops, designs, models, and tests communications systems and equipment, including but not limited to data links, digital radio, battle management and command and control systems, point‐to-point systems, secure systems, signal coding and modulation schema.
- Conducts studies on communications systems and equipment, such as present and projected volume of communications, effectiveness and adequacy of system, and estimated equipment costs.
- Performs engineering studies to obtain data on new equipment and systems developments in the communications field and adaptability of equipment to existing systems.
- Provide technical assistance to HF radio operators and MARS volunteers on all operational and technical issues regarding the HF Gateway operations.
- Provide technical equipment and software support to MARS volunteers.
- Write efficient and effective code in accordance with software functional specifications.
- Work with staff regarding the tools we use, our current code base, database design, and general programming design issues.
- Answer technical questions and troubleshooting / debugging support for both internal staff and external clients.
- Provide technical support to assist with urgent client situations.
- The employee will cross train as a radio communications operator, obtain a FCC general license within six months of hire, and participate in exercises quarterly and real-world events.
- One may assist with coordination with routine operator level PCMS checks with First Line supervisor and establishment of baseline performance standards and make routine performance and functional tests of operational and equipment spares.
- Must be willing to travel up to 25 as required.
Qualifications
- BA/BS in applicable discipline such as Electrical Engineering or Computer Science, or equivalent education/experience.
- General knowledge of radio procedure and operation.
- Radio operations experience to include knowledge of military specification tactical HF radio systems as well as commercial/amateur radio HF/VHF radio systems, HF propagation, tactical HF antenna systems and experience designing and building field expedient HF antenna systems.
- Technical knowledge of military tactical HF radio systems, to include using the L3Harris CPA software for planning voice and digital operations networks.
- Strong written and communications skills in the English language; and
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills (written and verbal) with experience briefing senior federal executives
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
- Active DoD Secret clearance. An ability to obtain and maintain up to DoD Top Secret clearance strongly desired.
