Systems Engineering is a cross-functional discipline where engineers execute a robust process of design, documentation, validation and verification to optimize existing and new systems. This will consist of, but is not limited to:
- Identifying, documenting, quantifying and breaking down system and software requirements
- Reviewing, updating and creating alternate system design concepts
- Performing and presenting design trade studies
- Selecting and implementing best designs
- Validation and Verification that selected design is properly integrated, executed and meets business/customer needs.
As a Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for driving architecture design and development within the Integrated Vehicle Health Management (IVHM) products and Ground Software tools engineering team, including the Configuration Toolset product line which creates and supports solutions to enable the health management of aircrafts.
Core Responsibilities:
- Design and Development: Taking a lead role in architecting, designing, and developing IVHM and Configuration Toolset products while ensuring adherence to GE team specific processes and applicable aviation safety and certification standards (DO-254, DO-178C, DO-330, etc.).
- Create, gather, and manage system and software requirements, test cases, test procedures, problem reports and drive the change management process.
- Continuous Integration and Testing: Participating in continuous software integration and testing processes to ensure software quality, reliability and functionality aligns with design and requirements.
- Verification: Taking a lead role in validating and verifying the design and implementation of the system.
- Problem-Solving: Identifying design failures and through systematic problem solving techniques to implementing effective solutions; thereby ensuring product robustness.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree from an accredited university or college.
- At least 5 years of experience in an engineering field, with a minimum of 3 years working specifically in a System Engineering role.
- This role requires use of technical data subject to U.S. Government contract restrictions and this posting is only for U.S. Citizens. GE will require proof of status.
Desired Characteristics:
- Technical Experience: Proficiency in requirements gathering/creation/management.
- General knowledge of Test Automation Frameworks, Object Oriented Programming Languages, Version Control Software, and Databases.
- Leadership and Communication: Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, coupled with excellent oral and written communication abilities.
- The ability to lead both global and virtual teams is particularly valued.
- Software development experience.
- Specialized Experience: Experience with Atlassian JIRA, IBM DOORS, Robot Framework, PostgreSQL, Git/GitHub, engineering SW release process, and DO-330 Tool Qualification documentation/processes is desirable.
