In this role, you will be responsible for working directly with internal and external stakeholders to identify, plan, and execute digital engineering work scope. Common processes owned by this role are: Digital Engineering, Systems Engineering Management, and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE). Cross functional guidance will be required related to: Model-Based Manufacturing (MBM), Model-Based Inspection (MBI), and Documentation and Training. Systems engineering is a cross-functional engineering discipline centered on an approach, mindset, and process that consider both the business and the technical needs of the customers with the goal of providing a quality product that meets the user’s needs. Systems engineers execute a robust process of design, creation, and optimization of systems, consisting of identification and quantification of system requirements, creation of alternate system design concepts, performance of design trade studies, selection and implementation of the best designs, and verification that the design is properly integrated and executed. The successful candidate must be self-motivated and effectively work across the enterprise and with multiple external customers to ensure coordination, cooperation, and execution of program efforts. Roles and Responsibilities
- Conduct engineering efforts aligned with FLIGHT DECK. Participate in and drive effective use of Daily Management, process improvements, and establish standard work. Identify problems and use appropriate tools to escalate, problem solve, and action plan.
- Formulate and implement plans to achieve program requirements, schedules, and contract commitments.
- Execute modelling within an MBSE environment aligned with best practices and industry standards, related but not limited to: requirements, functional architecture, logical architecture, physical architecture, interfaces, and trade studies.
- Effectively manage a collaborative digital environment by supporting data management, tool and process sustainment, authoritative sources of truth, digital threads, and data integration.
- Drive solutions to model-based manufacturing and model-based inspection that align with systems engineering in a digital environment.
- Leads functional teams to find creative solutions within complex manufacturing processes with technical variety and/or interdependent production cycles. Employs sophisticated manufacturing and engineering techniques. Interaction with adjacent functions needed to solve issues. Has the ability to evaluate quality of information received and questions conflicting data for analysis. Uses multiple internal and external resources outside of own function to help arrive at a decision.
- Assure proper documentation is recorded for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures.
- Effectively communicate and provide recommendations through the analysis and presentation of data to internal and external GE customers.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics from an accredited college or university
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in an engineering position
- Due to the nature of the duties of this position, this role requires the individual to obtain and maintain US Government Security Clearance; prerequisite for a security clearance is U.S. citizenship
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.
- Due to security requirements, this position must be able to work a full-time in the office schedule
Desired Characteristics
- 10 years of relevant experience in an engineering environment
- 2 years of relevant experience in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
- Active DoD Security Clearance at the Secret level or higher
- Active participation in a minimum of 1 development engine test program with significant ownership in test planning and/or execution
- Broad experience with aircraft engine component/systems design
- Proven ability to resolve technical issues and conflict.
- Demonstrated ability to lead by influence.
- Experience with Lean operating principles
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills
