PURPOSEThe Electronics Team Lead is a senior technical role responsible for guiding and coordinating the work of the Electronics team at Malta International Airport. The role acts as the primary mentor, subject matter expert, and operational coordinator for the team, supporting critical airport systems and related infrastructure.
The Electronics Team Lead ensures high service availability, safety, and technical excellence in all electronics-related activities. The role focuses on technical leadership, mentorship, and operational coordination rather than direct line management.
Reporting line to be confirmed based on organisational structure and candidate profile.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIESTeam Leadership and Coordination
- Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to the Electronics team in day-to-day operations and long-term development
- Coordinate task assignments and priorities to support effective incident response and service continuity
- Act as the escalation point for complex technical issues and provide expert-level troubleshooting support
- Promote adherence to safety standards, policies, and standard operating procedures
Operations and Maintenance
- Ensure routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs are carried out effectively and in line with schedules
- Monitor performance of electronics-related tickets (including response times, resolution rates, and backlog management)
- Ensure timely response and resolution of faults to maintain system uptime and operational continuity
- Support accurate documentation of systems, configurations, and maintenance activities
Project and Improvement Initiatives
- Support infrastructure projects involving electronic systems, providing technical input during planning and implementation
- Identify opportunities for technical improvements and process optimisation within the Electronics domain
- Coordinate with external vendors for equipment servicing, installation, and system upgrades
Compliance and Reporting
- Ensure compliance with applicable standards, airport regulations, and safety protocols
- Assist in internal and external audits and ensure accurate and timely reporting of team activities
- Provide regular updates and performance reports as required
- Support compliance with applicable certifications and frameworks (e.g. ISO standards, SOC-related controls where applicable.
Working pattern
- Standard office hourโs role
- Hybrid working model, including the possibility of working from home, in line with SITA policies
- Availability for on-call support to provide guidance during critical incidents and escalations
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE - Diploma or bachelorโs degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in a hands-on electronics or engineering role, including coordination or leadership responsibilities

- Advanced technical problem-solving and fault analysis skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- High attention to detail and strong commitment to safety and operational excellence
