Join a cutting-edge team advancing space and ground system architectures through Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE). This role integrates space mission design, satellite-to-ground operations, and constellation management into modern architectures, ensuring mission success from concept through operations.
Responsibilities:
Apply MBSE methodologies to decompose requirements into physical, functional, and logical system views.
Develop system and segment architectures, including interface definitions and Interface Control Documents (ICDs).
Define and analyze Technical Performance Measures (TPMs) to drive mission effectiveness, segment budgets, and system tradeoffs.
Conduct probabilistic system analyses for space-ground systems, creating and maintaining workbooks.
Coordinate and manage mission performance designs within an MBSE environment (e.g., MagicDraw, Cameo).
Lead the development of ICDs to support multi-stakeholder space missions.
Collaborate across customers and organizations to define common system solutions.
Contribute to system design changes, CONOPS development, and system thread designs.
Support flight dynamics management, including:
Manage space-to-ground contact planning and telemetry/command operations.
Document designs, risks, and trade studies to support space mission architecture decisions.
Qualifications:
- U.S. Citizenship is required by Federal Law
Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related STEM field (Master’s degree preferred).
8+ years of relevant experience (or 6+ years with a Master’s degree).
Demonstrated expertise in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
Strong experience with requirements analysis, decomposition, and management.
Proficiency in system architecture development and interface definition.
Experience with ICD development and coordination.
Familiarity with space mission design, including sensing, communication, payload management, and mission data processing.
Hands-on experience with satellite telemetry, tracking, and command (TT&C) systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with MagicDraw/Cameo for MBSE.
Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
Knowledge of enterprise interfaces such as gRPC, Kafka, REST, SNMP, and cloud architectures.
Experience with flight dynamics management for space constellations.
Knowledge of CCSDS protocols and enterprise interface methods.
Background with RF and optical space communications and IP networking.
Hands-on experience with space-ground antenna systems and tools like OpenC3.
Experience with space constellation design, operations, and anomaly support.
Familiarity with automated flight dynamics workflows and tools like FreeFlyer or Meridian.
Experience with constellation situation awareness and trending analysis tools.
Previous MDA program experience or defense-related space mission support.
Knowledge of AI/ML-enabled solutions for constellation operations.
Ability to create clear and actionable technical documentation.
