Job Title: Finishing and Plating TechnicianJob DescriptionThe Finishing and Plating Technician is responsible for performing surface finishing, chemical processing, and electroplating operations on aircraft and aircraft components in accordance with FAA regulations, customer specifications, approved data, and repair station procedures. This role directly supports airworthiness, corrosion protection, dimensional restoration, and cosmetic requirements for aviation hardware.
Responsibilities- Perform chemical processing and surface finishing operations including cleaning, etching, anodizing, passivation, conversion coating, electroplating, and paint preparation.
- Apply aviation approved metallic and chemical finishes (e.g., cadmium coatings) per approved process specifications.
- Prepare parts by masking, stripping, blasting, polishing, and dimensional inspection prior to plating or finishing.
- Read and interpret work orders, engineering drawings, process specifications, and customer requirements.
- Accurately document all work performed in repair station records, routers, and electronic tracking systems.
- Monitor bath chemistry, temperatures, amperage, voltages, and process times; perform routine solution maintenance and logging.
- Conduct in-process and final inspections to verify thickness, adhesion, surface finish, and conformance.
Essential Skills- 3+ years plating experience
- Experience with paint application preparation
- Ability to read technical drawings, specifications, and process instructions
- Basic math skills for measurements, ratios, and process calculations
Additional Skills & Qualifications- Experience in an FAA Part 145 Repair Station is preferred.
- Thickness measurement experience (XRF, micrometers, calipers).
- Basic computer skills for electronic documentation systems.

Work EnvironmentWork takes place in a shop environment where wearing required PPE is mandatory. The standard shift is from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend work if needed.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Houston, TX 77040.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $17.00 - $18.00/hr.
