Essential Responsibilities
Work with global engineering teams to understand advanced technologies and their implications on next generation products.
Conduct design studies of appropriate fidelity and project analysis with minimal guidance, meeting business standards and requirements.
Lead teams to balance financial and engineering goals, including designers, engineers, and analysts. Create plans to meet technical needs, solve problems, and report status to leadership.
Provide technical guidance, review, and mentorship. Ensure utilization of business and organization best practices and design practices. Ensure study outcomes are properly documented.
Lead a cross-functional team of adjacent disciplines (Aerothermal, Mechanical, Cost, Systems, Project, Sourcing) to drive optimal engine design & cost to meet technical and business objectives
Own the cross-section for preliminary design architecture studies, including weight roll-ups and mechanical component sizing, to support successful execution of program deliverables
Monitor and communicate project status, business issues and significant developments
Lead weight reviews and audits as required for customer commitments and design space studies
Lead the development and integration of parametric tools to enable parametric design space exploration and optimization studies
Prepare invention disclosures to protect technology that gives the business a competitive advantage, as well as protecting the intellectual property rights of the company
Lead or participate in organizational efforts in assigned projects and / or tasks
Qualifications/Requirements
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering from an accredited University or College
Minimum of 5 years of experience in an engineering, supply chain, or manufacturing position

Desired Characteristics
Minimum of 8 years experience in a mechanical engineering position
Systems thinking … ability the simplify complex, uncertain problems to find solutions with positive business outcomes
Experience estimating weight, cost, and design parameters early in engine development programs
Experience with Unigraphics NX or similar CAD program
Demonstrated ability to document, plan, market and manage programs that further the knowledge, understanding and capability of the business
Prior experience leading global cross-functional teams
Problem analysis and resolution skills
Strong oral and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information.
