The GEIQ Actuation Systems team has full ownership of the performance enhancer (key technology) mechanism that controls Variable Geometry mechanisms in the turbine. Because of that ownership -only global site outside US-, our team has had the responsibility and opportunity to fully design the latest GE engines mechanisms during all the Mechanical Design process going from conceptual to validation design reviews and to advance the state of the art of such technology for future applications, which is a rare and unique opportunity at GEIQ and other design centers at Mexico. In a daily basis the team faces and solves the multidiscipline challenges that our mechanism has in production or field to lift people up and bring them home safely. Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • The mechanical designer is in charge of developing, through analysis, design test and integration, mechanical solutions that meet the key stakeholder requirements. Considering his/her design experience, guidance from experienced members of the team is given for the execution of such tasks.
  • The mechanical designer is the owner of technical & business substantiation of our projects and he or she has to present that substantiation on internal and external boards.
  • The mechanical designer communicates project status, business issues or meaningful information to his/her team or program leader
  • The mechanical designer demonstrates a solid mechanical background that allows him/her to give technical insights to other personnel or teams and to check the quality of his/her own work.
  • The mechanical designer supports the investigation and development of new technologies or methodologies to increase the design knowledge, efficiency and expertise of the team
  • He/she prepares invention disclosures to protect the technology that provides a competitive advantage to the business
  • He/she assures proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautics, Mechanical-Administrative Engineering, Mechanical-Electrical Engineering, Physics or Mechatronics.       
  • Effective oral and written communication skills: English at intermediate level, Spanish at advanced level
  • Proven track record of execution within budget and schedule of mechanical design projects.
  • Ability to communicate with Senior Leadership through strong argumentation and presentation skills.

Desired Characteristics

  • Demonstrated capability as designer of mechanical solutions.
  • Ability to embrace change and drive innovation.
  • Self-motivated and able to work effectively in globally-based team.
  • Kinematics and Mechanism design experience.
  • GD&T and dimensional analysis experience.
  • ANSYS experience.
