Quality Manager
Purpose:
The Quality Manager is responsible for ensuring that PCC Carson City’s Quality Management System complies with customer, regulatory, and government requirements, while driving continuous improvement across all processes. This role leads the site’s Quality team, ensuring effective process controls, compliance with contractual obligations, and the consistent delivery of products that meet or exceed customer expectations.
Essential Job Functions:
Leadership & Compliance
- Serve as the primary point of contact with customers, regulatory bodies, and government agencies for all quality-related matters, including audits and certifications.
- Act as the Management Representative for ISO-9001 and AS9100 compliance.
- Ensure adherence to NADCAP, ISO/IEC 17025, and other applicable quality standards.
Auditing & Process Control
- Oversee internal audits of PCC Carson City operations to verify compliance with established procedures.
- Audit and approve subcontractors and suppliers to ensure quality system alignment.
- Maintain and update the Quality Manual and related documentation.
Team Management
- Direct and develop the Quality team responsible for planning, raw material release, product certification, and final acceptance.
- Manage Level III NDT Examiners, ensuring proper personnel qualification, special process certifications, and procedure generation.
- Lead personnel performing source inspections, audits, and release of products from subcontract suppliers.
Continuous Improvement & Cost Management
- Drive corrective and preventive actions to reduce rework, warranty claims, and scrap.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives through data-driven analysis of quality performance.
- Review and approve subcontract requisitions in alignment with customer and company requirements.
General
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned to support business objectives.
Preferred Education and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Metallurgy, or related technical field required; master’s degree preferred.
- 5–10 years of progressive quality leadership experience in aerospace, defense, or related manufacturing environments.
- Demonstrated experience with ISO 9001 and AS9100 Quality Management Systems.
- Strong knowledge in one or more of the following areas: melting processes, metallurgy, NDT and material testing, heat treatment and furnace qualification, blueprint and specification interpretation, SPC, machining processes, calibration systems, and customer-specific requirements.
- Proficiency with computer systems and databases; ability to program, maintain, and utilize quality data systems for analysis and reporting.
- S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency required due to government and military contract compliance.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with proven ability to convey complex information clearly.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to direct teams, solve complex issues, and maintain focus in a 24/7 operational environment.
- Commitment to continuous improvement and meeting business/quality objectives through clear, concise direction and collaboration.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist, and reach regularly throughout the work shift.
- Capable of lifting and carrying up to 35 pounds independently.
- Good hand–eye coordination and depth perception required for safe operation of tools and equipment.
- Must be able to work in both indoor manufacturing areas and outdoor yard environments, including exposure to varying temperatures and weather conditions.
