Job Title: Sheet Metal Deburring Technician
Job Description
This role focuses on precision deburring, grinding, and finishing of sheet metal components in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will interpret shop blueprints and technical drawings, use precision measuring instruments, and operate powered hand tools and tumblers to ensure parts meet all customer and engineering specifications.
Responsibilities
- Read and accurately interpret shop blueprints, technical drawings, and customer specifications to understand part requirements and finishing standards.
- Perform deburring, grinding, and sanding operations on sheet metal parts using powered electric and pneumatic hand tools such as grinders and sanders.
- Operate grinders and similar powered hand tools to remove burrs, blend surfaces, and polish components to the required finish.
- Operate tumblers, including loading and unloading the tumbler hopper, to achieve specified surface finishes.
- Select appropriate methods, tools, and techniques to perform work in compliance with prints and written specifications.
- Use precision measuring instruments, including micrometers and calipers, to verify dimensions and confirm that parts meet quality standards.
- Complete repeated tasks with consistent quality, maintaining acute attention to detail throughout the production process.
- Follow all safety procedures while working with machinery and powered tools in a manufacturing environment.
- Maintain regular on-site attendance to support production schedules and team workflow.
Essential Skills
- Ability to read and accurately interpret shop blueprints, technical drawings, and customer specifications.
- Experience performing deburring, grinding, and finishing work on sheet metal components.
- Capability to operate powered electric and pneumatic hand tools, including grinders and sanders.
- Proficiency using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers and calipers.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to perform repeated tasks with consistent accuracy.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced industrial manufacturing environment.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 1–50 lbs frequently.
- Ability to squat, kneel, bend, stoop, twist, turn, grasp, and reach overhead and outward frequently.
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for 1–10 hours per day.
- Ability to work safely around loud noises and machinery with moving parts while using required personal protective equipment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in aerospace manufacturing is advantageous.
- Previous experience using powered electric and pneumatic hand tools in a production setting is preferred.
- Prior work in a manufacturing or production environment involving sheet metal is beneficial.
- Familiarity with deburring, grinding, sanding, and general finishing processes.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a production team and follow written and verbal instructions.

Work Environment
You will work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to loud noises and machinery with moving parts. The role is on a day shift schedule, Monday through Friday, from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The work area typically ranges from 55 to 85 degrees Fahrenheit and operates at a fast pace to meet production demands. You will regularly use powered electric and pneumatic hand tools such as grinders and sanders, as well as tumblers and precision measuring instruments. The position requires wearing hearing protection, eye protection, steel-toed shoes, and other appropriate protective clothing to maintain a safe workplace.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Kent, WA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
