Position SummaryReporting to the Assistant Chief Pilot, the 705 Captain transports thousands of passengers each year. As a pilot, your number one priority is to conduct each flight safely, taking into consideration the comfort of each passenger and on-time performance.Personal CharacteristicsMust be fluent in EnglishHighly flexible, with the ability to respond quickly in a dynamic environmentProfessional and respectful, with a positive work attitudeTimely with a high level of commitment to on-time performance is essentialMotivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a teamEffective verbal and written communication skillsAble to build and maintain lasting relationships with all departments, business partners and customersSuperior time management skills, multitasking skills and the ability to prioritize tasksHigh level of integrity, confidentiality and accountabilityAble to handle stressful situations in a calm and effective mannerCustomer Service-oriented with a commitment to exceptional serviceStrong problem solving and analytical skillsHigh level of respect, understanding and regard for First Nations communitiesKey Responsibilities and AccountabilitiesConduct flights with strict adherence to the Standard Operating Procedures, Canadian Aviation Regulations, Aircraft Flight Manual, and the Company Operations ManualCheck weather, all applicable NOTAMs where available and determine fuel and oil requirementsCalculate the airplane weight and balanceReview, amend and accept the Operational Flight Plan(Type B 705 operation)Complete an airplane pre-flight inspection before each departureLoad, unload and secure cargo/freight as requiredComplete flight watch jointly with the flight dispatcher (Type B 705 operation)Complete all post flight duties, including notification/confirmation to the Company of the whereabouts of the airplane when away from base, recording flight times and any defectsContinue to meet and exceed the Transport Canada Qualification standards for a PilotPerform additional duties as assignedMinimum Education, Experience and CertificationsHigh school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) equivalentMust be able to obtain and maintain any applicable transportation security clearances and additional authorizationsCategory 1 MedicalCurrent Group 1 Instrument RatingAirline Transport Pilot License (ATPL) with 500 hours on DHC-8 is preferred Previous airline experience is considered an assetPilots must be fluent in English, and be able to demonstrate effective verbal and listening comprehensionIndigenous and Cultural Awareness Training considered an assetWorking ConditionsPhysically able to perform all listed job dutiesTravel by aircraft and other means as required by roleWork performed both indoors and outdoors; employee must be able to adapt to all outdoor weather conditionsAble to lift and carry up to 50 lbsMust be able to work a flexible schedule and be able to travel for extended periods
