Located in Kent, Washington, Protective Coatings Inc. is a leading provider of full service finishing for the aerospace, electronics and medical industries in both commercial and defense applications. Services include but are not limited to non-destructive testing such as fluorescent penetrant and magnetic particle inspection and a wide variety of surface enhancement processes such as shot peening and abrasive blasting, passivation, cadmium and nickel zinc plating, chromic, sulfuric and boric sulfuric acid anodizing and the application of chromate conversion coating on ferrous and non-ferrous alloys. Organic coating includes the application and testing of multiple resin systems such as epoxies, phenolics, polyurethanes, polyesters, elastomerics, intumescents, lacquers, alkyds, acrylics, dry-film lubricants, and Teflon. Founded in 1976, Protective Coatings Inc. was later acquired by Precision Castparts in 2012, and became part of the Aerostructures Division. As a defense contractor Protective Coatings Inc. is registered with the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls as a subsidiary of Precision Castparts Corp and is fully compliant with all relevant facets of the International Traffic in Arms Regulations and the Export Administration Regulations.
Position Summary:
Sets up, operates, maintains, and troubleshoots packaging equipment. Monitors, evaluates, and adjusts processes or packaging equipment to maximize quality and efficiency. Operates equipment that packages materials or products by inserting them into containers or filling containers from spouts or chutes. Completes batch records and associated documentation. Works in an MRP environment.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Maintaining regular and punctual attendance according to shift-times or a pre-arranged work schedule.
- Follow all policies, procedures, and work instructions.
- Wear and maintain proper personal equipment (PPE).
- Review the work order/traveler to ascertain all post finish requirements.
- Maintaining part configuration and tagging as appropriate.
- Visual inspection of finished product for apparent unacceptable aesthetic and/or functional defects.
- Removal of all masking media as required from finished product by using appropriate unmask tools.
- Proper use of unmasking tools such as razor blades, wire cutters, phenolic (wooden) knives, pliers, etc.
- Post unmask cleanup of finished product to remove paint bridging and leakage.
- Manual touch up of painted finishes as necessary.
- Post unmask application of corrosion preventative compounds if as required by work order instruction.
- Verification of required quantity against work order/traveler.
- Wrapping and packaging of completed product in accordance with written instructions.
- Replenish packaging supplies such as wrapping papers, plastic sheets, boxes, cartons, glue, ink and labels.
- Operators will be exposed to chemicals/odors such as solvents for cleaning, paints for touch ups, and chemical paint strippers for removal of localized paint.
- Prepare and layout parts received from outside and internal processing for the part spaning process.
- Verify planning and/or PO is complete and that all open issues have been closed.
- Confirm part quantities are per appropriate paperwork.
- Apply part span as required using ink-jet machine and verify part with Quality Assurance.
- Package part per work order and customer requirements.
- Enter jobs into Part Marking Log; Maintain log and report results to supervision as required.
- Clean ink-jet machine to maintain proper flow and final spaning consistency; Load ink and properly dispose of spent cartridges.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Ability to read, write and speak the English language.
- Must be detail oriented and quick learner.
- Basic computers skills involving scanning work orders and looking up technique sheets.
- Excellent vision (whether or not corrected) including normal color vision.
- Good communicator with ability to represent the company in a positive manner.
- Ability to work alone or as a member of a team, good cooperative skills.
- Blueprint reading & perform basic math (add, subtract, multiply, & divide).
- Good manual dexterity.

- Must be able to: lift and carry up to 35 pounds regularly.
- Visual acuity needed for close detail work, clarity with distance, distinction with color, peripheral observation up and down/left and right, depth perception for distance and spatial relationships, sharp focus of objects brought into line of sight.

Level of Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent including the ability to read and write in English.

- Monday-Friday from 6am-2:30pm
